Why Cancer Research UK?
When we were looking for a Charity to support when doing our LEJOG one stat really jumped out at us,
"more than one in three of us will get cancer at some point in our lives."
That, combined with the fact that several close family members have all suffered from various types of cancer meant there was only one choice.
Cancer Research UK's work on the causes and prevention of cancer has saved millions of lives across the world. Over the next decade they aim to save many more. Cancer survival rates have doubled in the last 40 years and their work has been at the heart of that progress. They fund the work of more than 4,000 scientists, doctors and nurses throughout the UK and support over 200 clinical trials, testing vital new drugs and treatments for cancer. For every £1 we raise, they will spend 80p on their work to beat cancer. Cancer Research UK receive no government funding for research – it’s funded entirely by donations and fundraising activities like ours.
There are hundreds of thousands of people affected by cancer each year in the UK and their vital research will help millions more people to survive.
Our trip is entirely self funded and any money that you donate will be going to Cancer Research UK.
