Day 5 only one county today!
The day started with breakfast beside the river in the sunshine at Symmonds Yat. Beautiful - we must go back one day. We set off about 9a.m. I was struggling from the start. It was a really hot day. It just seemed a long way up to Shrewsbury. Martin had planned another lovely route - lots of lanes avoiding the main A49. We skirted Hereford, then arrived in Leominster. We stopped for a lovely cream tea in Ludlow - blackberry scones at The Olive Branch. - Highly recommended. We headed off over Wenlock edge to Church Stretton. Shropshire! A quick refuelling stop for a banana and flapjack and then the last 17 miles to Shrewsbury travelodge saw us arrive at 7.30p.m. to the welcome sight of Malcolm and Pam Hackney waving flags and Sophie Goodfellows grandparents (the Whitmore's.) A big thanks to all for turning up to show support and for the drinks and dinner It kept me going today knowing we would have a welcome waiting for us tonight. Thanks to all who have donated or pledged money over the last couple of days. Thanks to Fr. Jon for putting it on the church newsletter at St. Gregory's and thanks to Christine for donating.
