Day 3 - or how the South West was won!

After yesterday’s hill fest today promised a much easier 61 miles (if 61 miles can ever be classed as easy?) We started out later at 9:40am but made great progress through the outskirts of Crediton and onto Thortverton where serious chocolate refuelling took place ;-) Then it was onwards to the meeting point of Sampford Peverall where we were due to meet Karen and Michael at 1:00pm. After a nice lunch we immediately went the wrong way before backtracking and finding the canal towpath. The towpath was a nice relief, a bit bumpy but NO HILLS J

The rest of the day was much more of the same, gentle ups and downs (with the occasional steep climb thrown in just to remind us what they are like!) and we finally flew down the last few miles on the busy A38 to tonight’s high class accommodation at Bridgwater Travelodge.

Karen and Michael picked us up and we went out for dinner in Bridgwater’s only open Restaurant! It really is nice to see some friendly faces and has made a great difference to our spirits - especially after another long ride. Also our thanks go out to Jane Holt for her donation and kind words, it really does help us and perhaps more importantly in the grand scheme of things Cancer Research UK.

So that’s it the South West officially conquered - onwards across the Somerset Levels (hopefully true to name) and into Wales.
