Day 5 - The taming of the Shrew...

After a lovely breakfast we climbed back out of Symonds Yat (and back into civilisation judging by the texts that came flooding into my phone) and set off across Herefordshire following the path of the River Wye. One of the highlights of the journey so far has been the fantastic areas, village, views and sights that we have seen and today was no exception.

Todays route was lots of small (ish) ups and downs and we climbed and dropped all day. This was made harder by the Sunshine - I'm not going to complain about it being too hot in case it rains for the next week! Towns such as Ross on Wye, Leominster, Ludlow and Church Stretton all came and went in a slow blur. I had planned to avoid as many of the main roads as possible which led to a final climb up to the top of Lyth Hill - a well known Beauty spot just on the edge of Shrewsbury.

We skirted around the edge of Shrewsbury town center keeping to the cycle paths due to the traffic being really heavy! This also meant slow going with having to stop at every junction, roundabout, path etc. etc.. All this was worth it when we were met by 'The Hackneys' and 'The Whitmores' who had made the journey out to meet us at tonight's Travelodge at Shrewsbury Battlefield. We continue to be overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of friends and relatives - Thank You all so much!!!

So 77.7 Miles done today, Level with home - Hereford completed and Shropshire almost done - Onto Up Norf......
